I’ve just met a performer who not only made a big impression on me, but who also made me rethink my ideas about the piano accordion.
Before I met Tracey Collins, I admit that the accordion usually conjured up for me one of those persistent cliches of France: a moustached old man in a beret, perhaps outside a street market or a train station.
Tracey could not be further from that image! She’s young, gorgeous and a Kiwi, whose smile and warmth matches the sparkle from her beautifully decorated instrument – which she plays with amazing skill and panache, developed since she first began at age six.
I first heard Tracey play at her regular gig at Pastis, a lovely French restaurant in Auckland, but this is just one of the ’strings’ to her bow. She plays in more than one group, and at events, both private and public. She has recorded, performed with orchestras and on television. Her desire is to perform internationally, and bring her music to a wider audience. Lately Tracey has been exploring music styles not usually associated with the accordion and is keen to show off the instrument’s diversity.
If you are looking for an entertainer to provide music and fantastic atmosphere to an event you’re planning, I highly recommend you visit Tracey’s website and get in touch.
Tracey’s music has wide appeal to all ages and tastes, but more to the point, she adds genuine glamour to the occasion. She’ll help make your event stand out from the crowd.
